In 2009, the École supérieure des arts décoratifs in Strasbourg gives Martin Le Chevallier carte blanche for an intervention. Instead of producing a work of art for the site, he proposes to publish a booklet, The Failing Student Guide, in connection with the entry exam. This 32-pages publication is designed as a tribute to traveling off beaten paths. There are passages on late careers, illustrious self-taught people, brilliant abysmal students, and all sorts of alternatives to the traditional avenue via prestigious schools. A numbered and signed edition of the booklet is to be given to the numerous candidates who failed the entrance exam. The project was accepted but has not yet seen the light of day.
